The player who wins the bid has the privilege of setting the trump suit, influencing the course of the game in their favor. To prevent the bid-winning team from winning, the opposing team must strive to reach a score of 29 minus the bid amount. This distinctive element of gameplay serves as the origin for the game's name, '29'.</p>
